Sugar Editorial Picks

This holiday, I wanted to make homemade candy as one of my edible gifts for friends, and I concluded that candied citrus fruit would be the perfect choice. The recipe only calls for fruit, which I always have on hand, and sugar. Candy making doesn't get more basic than that!

As we all know, limited edition candy is all the rage these days. For a while everything came with a coating of dark chocolate or a layer of creamy peanut butter. However right now, the trend seems to be the addition of fruit flavors and pink hues.

It's a big movie weekend, for sure. With New Moon finally out, I've already committed myself to spend an afternoon at the theater — the only complication is that I'm not so fond of the movie-theater fare. Raspberries always seem to get paired with chocolate, so when I heard that M&Ms was releasing a limited edition "RaZZberry" flavor, I immediately wondered why it hadn't been done before. The Razzes — as I like to call them — are M&Ms first-ever nationwide fruit-flavor and will only be available for six weeks. I haven't seen the bright pink packages yet, but you should be able to find them in convenience stores, drug stores, gas stations, etc.

If your little goblins won't be satisfied with fancy fruit lollipops, indulge their sweet tooth by making small sugar cookies on sticks.
These simple treats are easy to make and don't require a fancy production line. Just bake your favorite sugar cookies from scratch or a pre-made batter and impale round dough with lollipop sticks (can be found at a party or gourmet store) before they are baked.
