On Monday night I was lucky enough to attend a preview of DIFFA's Dining By Design. The fundraising event, sponsored by Elle Decor, invited designers and corporations to create one-of-a-kind installations of dining tables set for dinner and the surrounding room. While the food was practically non-existent, the four floors were filled with over 40 incredible tablescape designs.

The Nakashima Straight Backed Chair ($634) is a beauty, for sure. It was designed by architect George Nakashima, who was known to describe himself as “Japanese Shaker," for Knoll in 1948. But, this chair doesn't have the simple, possibly antiquated, look of most Shaker furniture; it's fresh and modern.

As I've mentioned in the past, I'm a huge fan of the new CBS series The Good Wife. In particular, I adore Alicia Florrick's (Julianna Margulies) apartment. With classic styling and great use of color, it's definitely a look I'm currently coveting.

Aside from antiques, it's not often that I see a dining chair that's so outstanding and lustworthy as the Niki Jones Silhouette Chair ($407). The shape has beautiful proportions and such a delicate shape. Its form is based on classic French antiques, but has been updated with a high gloss lacquer.

You might expect the son of a renowned star like Tom Hanks to swoop up a sprawling Hollywood mansion at first chance, courtesy of Dad. But Colin Hanks is determined to be an actor in his own right and has his priorities straight. Thus, he's quietly purchased a modest two-bedroom, 1.75-bath home in Los Angeles for just over $1 million.

For 20 years, Elle Decor's chic issues have offered readers ideas and inspiration for their homes. I've been collecting a giant stack of dog-eared Elle Decor issues for the last 10 years, so I'm excited to announce that the best of the magazine can now be found in Style and Substance ($45) by Margaret Russell and the editors of Elle Decor. I was thrilled to receive a (personally autographed!) copy of Style and Substance in my mailbox, and couldn't wait to review the book.

Camila of High-Heeled Foot in the Door is at it again! This time the DIY expert and interior designer conquered her young sister's apartment in Chelsea, NYC, which is shared with two roommates. Communal living spaces often pose a problem, as each roommate has her own tastes, and recent grads often can't afford to be spending their hard-earned mula on décor.

While the shows have been in full swing during the day, London Fashion Week's nights are full of parties for designers and fashion houses celebrating their shows and letting their hair down a little. Last night, FabUK and I went to the Mulberry party where we watched Friendly Fires perform, and spotted Alexa Chung, Pixie Geldof, Bonnie Wright, Tom Sturridge, Emma Roberts, Ben Grimes, Nicola Roberts and some other recognisable faces. Other celebs partying and dining together this weekend included Anna Wintour, Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Simon Cowell and others at the TopShop Unique dinner, and Peaches Geldof and Fearne Cotton at the PPQ party.
