McDonald's will offer free wireless Internet in 11,000 locations through a partnership with AT&T Wireless. The promotion is intended to encourage customers to spend time in the restaurants during nonprime times of day and to boost sales and popularity of its new coffee menu items.
According to the article, McDonald's is also planning new menu items like smoothies to appeal to customers during "snack" times.

No amount of free wifi will make me sit in a place reaking of french fry oil, burger fat, and industrial gluttony. Gross.
1Huh, we've had free wifi in almost all of McDonald's franchises for at least 2 years here in Jakarta
2Um... this is new news? I've been dividing my time between the boonies and the city, and they've had wifi in the boonies at least 1.5 years and LONGER in the city.
