Let the colors of the Olympic symbol — blue, yellow, black, green, and red — inspire the decor of your Olympics viewing party. Start by running a white cloth down the middle of a buffet table. Set the food on five circular plates arranged in the Olympic symbol pattern.

When guests arrive at your Olympic viewing, surprise them at the door with a chilled shot of Canton Ginger Liqueur. The shot will loosen up shy friends and get the conversation flowing. Next offer guests a glass of strawberry-lychee punch.

Like a medal ceremony during the games, the dessert to your Olympic viewing should be rewarding and sweet. During the Summer nothing beats homemade ice cream, so wow guests with fresh scoops of cold, green tea ice cream.
This exotic flavor continues the Asian-influenced theme of the menu.

The Olympics start this Friday, so naturally this week, I'm planning an Olympics viewing party! You can host this party while watching the opening ceremony, or invite friends to enjoy your favorite sporting event. After checking the online schedule of the games to determine the date of your viewing, send invitations.

On the heels of ABC's announcements, NBC has declared what its Fall schedule will look like, with some shows not returning to the network and new original programming coming in. We'd already heard much of NBC's news, but here are some interesting tidbits from today:
- NBC has dropped My Name Is Earl and Medium, though it's possible other networks may pick those up. CBS appears fairly likely to snag Medium while Earl could land at Fox or ABC.
- Chuck fans will have to wait until after the 2010 Olympics to get their fix, as the show won't return until February 2010.

The International Olympic Committee has already limited internet access for journalists covering the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China — which is bad enough — but now they are even imposing bans on professional camera equipment. The actual definition of "professional camera equipment" wasn't clearly defined on the official Olympics website, but many believe that this includes SLRs with big lenses (ones which would block views for spectators during the games).
Whatever the case, this isn't great news, considering you could take some amazing images with an SLR camera during the games.

Over 10,000 athletes, hundreds of thousands of fans, and 30,000 journalists have traveled to Beijing for the Olympics.
To welcome these visitors, everyday life in the Chinese capital received an Olympic makeover. The Chinese government removed the homeless from the streets, urged smokers to quit, advised bus commuters to wait in line instead of push, installed 40 million plants, cut traffic in half, and even gave residents wardrobe advice.

Need an Olympic fix daily, hourly, to the minute? NBC has whipped up a slew of widgets for you to follow all the action.
My favorite is the medal count — it tallies up the individual wins so you can see how where all the countries stand in their winnings.
