Brando isn't Irish (his family tree has strong French roots), but that didn't stop him from donning a shamrock collar for the day. And let's face it, you don't need to be Irish to celebrate St. Patrick's Day - we aren't fooling anyone with our March 17 happy hours either.

Irish Stars See Off St Patrick's Day at Meteor Music Awards

Irish musicians celebrated St Patrick's Day at the Meteor Ireland Music Awards in Dublin last night. Your favourite Irish band Boyzone partied at the ceremony alongside Westlife's Shane Filan and Nicky Byrne, who collected the group's gong for Best Irish Pop Act. The Script picked up two awards for Best Irish Album and Best Irish Band, while James Morrison was named Best International Male. He performed on stage, as did Stereophonics and Elbow. Caprice was her usual shy and retiring self in gold, while Gabriella Cilmi shimmered in silver after performing at Sound Relief in Australia. How did you celebrate St Patrick's Day?

Fab Finding Follow-Up: St. Patty's Day Party

How to Taste Fine Whiskey

While downing green drinks or beer cocktails is a fun way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, sipping a fine, Irish whiskey is a low-key way to mark the occasion. Like wine, there is a special technique to enjoy the potent caramel-colored spirit.

Here's how:

Make sure the whiskey is at room temperature. Pour into a clear glass with a narrow mouth and wide bottom.
Examine the color of the liquid. The darker the whiskey, the longer it has been aged.
Warm the glass with your hands and smell the whiskey's aroma. Note any fruit, spice, or other flavors, like butterscotch.
Before tasting, add a tiny bit of water to dilute the concentrated spirit. You will be able to better taste the whiskey without a harsh burn from the strong alcohol.
Finally, sip the whiskey like you would a wine, and be aware of its body and flavor.

St. Patty's Day Treats For Your Four-Legged Friends

Although Samson isn't Irish (obvs), that didn't stop LilPeaPod from making her little guy some special St. Patrick's Day treats to enjoy so he wasn't left out of the celebration fun. She sent in a few photos, and describes how she made the Irish bars with one of my household's favorite ingredients: peanut butter! She writes:

After attending the St. Patrick's Day parade this weekend in San Francisco, I had enough Irish treats and Guinness to last me a week! Since this was Samson's first St. Patty's Day, I didn't want to leave the little guy out of the fun, and decided to make a green-themed treat for him. I took the Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Cookie recipe you posted last year, and cut them into small, bite sized bars. As you can see, I added to the recipe by topping the cookies with a cream cheese and honey frosting. With just a few drops of organic food coloring that I found at my local Whole Foods, I got the nice green tint. It was super easy to make, and my little guy gobbled them up!

Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Cookies For You and Fido

Great tasting cookies that are safe for your pup, and will appeal to your palette as well.

Ingredients

2 cups flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 tablespoons of sesame seed oil
1 cup peanut butter-creamy or chunky
1 cup low-fat milk
2 eggs
2 1/2 cups of uncooked oatmeal
Honey (no more than 1/2 cup) – as a yummy extra

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
2. Grease cookie sheet(only 1 needed)
3. Put 2 cups of flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1 cup milk, 2 eggs and 2 tablespoons of oil in a bowl, mix well.
4. Heat peanut butter and honey(together) in microwave for 30 seconds and mix into bowl mentioned in #3.
5. Pour 2 cups of oatmeal into bowl and mix well.
6. Pour and spread into cookie sheet.
7. Take 1/2 cup oatmeal and spread on the top and tap down with fork to make it stick when done cooking.
8. Bake for 25 minutes, longer if you want them crispy.
9. Hot or cold, cut treats into 3-inches by 1 1/2-inches and store in sealed container.

Doggie Friendly Cream Cheese Frosting
Original Recipe

Great topping for your pet-friendly cookies!

Ingredients

5 ounces of low fat cream cheese
1 tablespoon of vanilla
1 tablespoon of honey

Directions
Mix cream cheese, canola oil, vanilla, and honey in a bowl. For color, use one or two drops of food coloring. Frost cookies with mixture and enjoy!

Delilicious: Make a Kid Friendly St. Patrick's Day Spread

Convincing tots to eat their greens is typically a pretty laborious process, but St. Patrick's Day may be an exception. Charged up on green celebrations and tales of St. Patrick your children just might get their dose of vegetable vitamins today. Here are some simple ideas for infusing your family meal with a little festive flare.

Dinner Menu: PartySugar suggests a delicious dinner of Green Goddess Dressing, Warm Spinach and Artichoke Dip, Pesto Pizza and Creamy Broccoli Soup. If that's far too much green for your family, make your tots the pizza with the pesto on the side. They can add the color it to their liking or choose to keep their slice plain.
Treats: Make a simple and low sugar Irish Soda Bread and decorate it with green royal icing for kid appeal. If you don't have a ton of time pick up some shamrock Sugar cookies from your local bakery or grab unfrosted cookies and frost them with your children.
Green Non-Alcoholic Beer: While the adults chug delicious beer cocktails make sure to have some equally attractive non-alcoholic beverages (we call those EANABs) on hand for your little leprechauns. Add natural green dye to Sprite, mineral water or apple juice for a virgin cocktail.
Wear Green: Don't forget to have your whole family wear a spot of green so no one gets pinched at school.

Fab Con: Roisin Murphy

As today is about all things Irish I thought I'd celebrate the most stylish lady from the emerald isle: Roisin Murphy! This style maven made her name in fashion last year. She attended all the big shows wearing an enviable wardrobe with pieces by PPQ, Gareth Pugh, and Preen.

Roisin bravely wore Gareth Pugh way before Beyonce did, even donning his designs for a single cover shoot.

She revealed that her biggest style influence comes from her Grandma. "She was never seen without her red lipstick or without her hair done. In the winter she would parade around in a full-length mink coat with leather gloves."

She added that as a child she wasn't always so glamorous. "When I was about nine and old enough to dress myself, I would swing wildly from being an absolute tomboy to ridiculous frilliness."
