Lately I have been posting common side recipes that can be paired with roast dishes and hearty meats. Today I decided it's time we spice things up a bit (we are after-all in the middle of January) and instead of making a normal, classic side I suggest we make an exotic, fresh tabbouleh. Tabbouleh (pronounced tub-boo-lei) is an Arab salad made of cracked wheat combined with finely chopped vegetables such as tomatoes, parsley, or onion.

A group of Lebanese businessmen have accused Israel of stealing their traditional dish, hummus. Although the exact origins of the creamy garbanzo bean spread are unknown, the Lebanese Industrialists Association, lead by Fadi Abboud, plan to sue Israel for ownership. Abboud hopes to make hummus a dish with protected geographical status.

Last week I challenged you guys to come up with great recipe ideas featuring peppermint. This week it was definitely a tough decision, there were a bunch of fantastic entries, such as Molten Chocolate Cakes with Mint Fudge Sauce, Peppermint Oreo Balls and super Cute Peppermint Pigs. However, since I sort of overdosed on sweets this past week, I've decided that the winner of this week's challenge is 3Sweeties with her entry of Chicken with Tabbouleh.
