For my uncle's birthday, I always bake him a German chocolate cake. However, this year I was bored with the regular old recipe and decided to try something new. Inspired by the classic Hostess Cupcakes, I created a rich German chocolate variation.

Every parent will tell you that finding or making the perfect cake for your child's birthday fete can be stressful, which is why most of us turn to the local bakery or family baker for support and inspiration. These artisan-created made-to-order and ship cakes from a shop in California's Napa Valley are designed to prevent you from pre-party stress. You have to order four days in advance, but the cakes, which range in price from $92 to $98, are shipped overnight and arrive frozen.

Although there a tons of different equally delicious desserts out there, for a child's birthday, let them eat cake. Ask the birthday honoree what type of cake they would like to celebrate their big day.

It was my sister's 22nd birthday a little over a week ago and lucky me, I had a reason to make a cake. I asked her to let me know what kind of cake she wanted and was expecting her typical favorite: chocolate with peanut butter. So, I was super surprised and excited to see that she was challenging me with a cake I had never made before: a red velvet cake!

Not only is June filled with fun events like the Ugliest Pet Contest and Take Your Dog To Work Day, but it's also North's Birthday! This year I want to make a big to-do about the sixth birthday of my four legged pal and treat him to a yummy birthday cake (as if he doesn't get treats all the time anyway, right?).
Although I love (love) the goodies offered up at Kool Dog Kafe – including this tasty looking Birthday Cake ($25) which can be delivered right to my door in this cute box – I could be swayed into making my own homemade surprise, especially now that I'm armed with this easy to figure out Puppy Cake Mix ($6)!

When cruising around looking for a perfect birthday pawty-cake recipe for my pup, I found a site that sells fondant for dogs! That's means if I wasn't super last minute, I could have ordered him either special treats with his adoro face on them, or just sent in a photo and special ordered their pet-friendly fondant (made of whole-wheat flour, peanut butter, milk, soy flour, baking soda, brown sugar, and milk) already set up to top 12 pupcakes! For his next fiesta with fellow furry friends, I'll bake up either the Peanut Butter Carrot Cake or the Ginger Banana Version .
