The folks at Lotus Foods recently sent a few samples of their exotic rice. The company specializes in handcrafted rice from small family farms in remote areas of the world, and it has marketed several heirloom rice varieties that may otherwise have become extinct. It also works closely with the small family farms in order to provide them with an "honorable living."

In a pinch, I'm a big fan of frozen meals from Amy's Kitchen, and I particularly like the "bowls." I always keep a few in my freezer just in case I don't have time to make lunch. While the Country Cheddar Bowl is my favorite, I also like the Stuffed Pasta Shells.

I just came across Forbidden Rice from Lotus Foods. Legend tells us that this ancient grain was once eaten exclusively by the Emperors.
Today, this medium-size Chinese black rice can be enjoyed by all and is prized for its delicious nutty taste, soft and chewy texture, and beautiful rich deep purple color.

Sir David Frost held his annual Summer Party in London yesterday, but sadly the sun didn't shine for it. That didn't stop some of the female guests baring their legs though, Lisa Snowdon looked very Summer appropriate in her floral dress, and Anneka Rice wore a fab bright orange dress with the must-have accessory of the party – the umbrella! Ronnie Corbett managed to look even shorter than usual as he stood underneath an enormous brolly, while Alan Whicker stood looking a little bewildered as his turned inside out.

I recently tried a new flavor of the frozen entrées from Kashi (they're the company that makes those TLC Chewy Granola Bars I love). I loved the Pesto Pasta Primavera so much, and was excited to try another vegetarian option - Black Bean Mango.
As with all of Kashi's products, I was impressed that I could pronounce every ingredient on the list, and they were all things I've heard of like canola oil, ginger, cilantro, and garlic.

Pork chops may be filling and healthful, but because they're a leaner cut, they aren't always full of flavor.
To keep your taste buds dancing, incorporate the other white meat into a classic Southern staple that's got major sass: the Hoppin' John.
A medley of black-eyed peas, brown rice, kale, and pork come together with the help of tomato, broth, vinegar, and paprika.

Heidi Klum went all out for her 10th annual Halloween party at Voyeur in LA on Saturday. She and Seal looked amazing as they arrived dressed as black crows just weeks after welcoming their new daughter Lou. Heidi's party is always huge and she revealed that the elaborate costume planning starts every year in July.
