Su Casa member Hihowareya recently updated her kitchen with a cool DIYed backsplash, some fresh paint colors, and new lighting. She also made an important, practical change to her kitchen as well: she added an island and sink that allowed her wheelchair-bound mother to maneuver around the space and use the kitchen to her best advantage.

Prosciutto and melon is a classic Italian appetizer, but right now, the abundance of juicy, summery mango is too tempting to resist. Combined with the salty, cured ham, this tropical fruit works just as well, especially when freshly cut mint from your garden (or grocery store) is added to the mix.
To balance out the bold trio of mango, prosciutto, and mint, I went basic with the rest of the ingredients: bitter arugula to cut the sweetness, simple hollowed-out ciabatta for the bread, and mild mozzarella to meld it all together.

My theory is to make sure you get him something that you both can enjoy, that way you're never agitated that he wants to spend a million hours shining his new toys or programing TiVo.
Tivo Series3
If your fella is geeky enough that he took you on more than one date to the electronics store before purchasing his beloved HDTV, he needs a TiVo upgrade to the TiVo Series 3 HD Digital Media Recorder.

If you're trying to cut down on calories, one way to do this is to make open-faced sandwiches. Using just one piece of bread means fewer calories and a less spreadable surface for fattening condiments like mayo. I am by no means saying that carbs are bad, but one piece of multigrain bread has anywhere from 50 to 90 calories.

Here's the scenario: you are at home and hungry for food. You have to cook up something scrumptious for you and your boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse/child/friend, but the ingredients you have on hand are limited.
You have leftover turkey breast from Sunday's dinner, a bag full of dried cranberries, and a couple stalks of fresh celery.
