The January issue of Gourmet magazine has been sitting on my counter for weeks. More accurately, the recipe for buttermilk cookies has been on my counter for weeks. They just looked so simple and charming, I knew I'd have to make them some day.

This week my family has been throwing around a barrage of bad lawyer jokes. Why? My sister passed the bar and was officially sworn in as a lawyer!

There are only a few weeks left in my 52 weeks of baking resolution, so I'm trying to find things on my "I can't believe I haven't made these before" list. Cream puffs were near the top of that list, but after last night, I'm officially able to cross them off.
I found a pastry recipe that looked simple and yielded a large haul of puffs.

Box of Chocolates by Colorescience, $150, is a six piece collection of chocolate flavored and mint scented lip glazes that brighten your smile and freshen your breath! Each Lip Candy Glaze is accented with sweet, rich pure quadruple chocolate extract and mint which is both refreshing and surprisingly really delicious.

Sometimes I'll be flipping through a cooking magazine and see an item, say a chocolate cheesecake with a ganache glaze and a green sparkly sugar snake, and think, I'm going to make that. Then two weeks ago I was sitting on my couch, looked up, and swore BBQ Bash jumped out at me.

I have a huge sweet tooth, so I can relate to your cravings for cookies, chocolate, and the like. The problem is, too much sugar can lead to weight gain, metabolic disorder (a precursor of type 2 diabetes and heart disease), and possibly even certain cancers. Added sugars should make up only six to 10 percent of your daily calories.

Last weekend I went to a friend's house for a small birthday party. I told them not to worry about the cake because I would take care of it. (After all, I like baking and this will be a great excuse for my 52 weeks of baking.) So when I asked what the birthday boy's favorite cake was, I was expecting it to be something standard like chocolate, carrot, coconut, you know, a normal "cake" flavor.
