When you're talking fashion, there are a lot of rules about color. No white after Labor Day. Black and brown clash.

Since I wrote my slideshows on how to decorate with gray and with yellow, I've been on a major gray and yellow kick, and I'm considering using those colors in a palette for one of my rooms. So as a start, I thought I'd see what gray and yellow artwork is out there. Obviously having more than two colors in a painting or a print will give it more depth and visual interest, so it's not limited to just these hues!

I'm a big pink fan, but I love it when the color is paired with another, unexpected shade. And what better pairing for Fall than orange? Since pink and orange share a uniting red undertone, they blend perfectly, and are a great, modern mix of colors for your home.

I doubt that I would ever think of painting a cottage these two colors. Still, the contrast between the Mediterranean blue and rusty brick red is certainly eye-catching, and there's something so innocent and playful about the combination. In fact, it almost seems as if odd, surprising colors should be de rigueur for Summer getaways.

If you're in love with your white walls, but still want to add a hint of color to your life, take inspiration from this home. The stairs were painted an unexpectedly bright color, adding an infusion of freshness to the space. With otherwise neutral choices for the floors and walls, the staircase really stands out.

While this bathroom is certainly chic and beachy, the seagrass/sand tones of the room are a little overwhelming. Are you a fan of the monochromatic palette, or do you like a little color in your WC?

While clear crystal prisms are the standard for most chandeliers, there's no reason you have to relegate your hanging beauties to such boring stuff. What about a bit of bright blue or yellow?
