I'm not much of a liquor lover (more of a wino), but I'm aching for these gorgeous glass decanters by sculptor and designer Elizabeth Lyons. I don't think I'd even bother filling them; they're delectable as is. The vibrant colors of the hand-blown glass alone are enough to keep me happy forever, but the oversize round stoppers really give them that extra kick.

My grandfather is so unbelievably cool — think Austin Powers meets Frank Sinatra — that gift shopping for him is incredibly fun. He already owns everything from a fancy wine cooler to a digital meat thermometer, so I have to get super creative when looking for gifts. I suggest you do the same when searching for the perfect gift for gramps.

To pour the upper layer of liquid into a new vessel, leaving behind the heaviest part (solids or another liquid) that has settled. Long before I understood their purpose, I was mesmerized by wine decanters. With their crystal-clear form and graceful presence in a room, I've always thought decanters are as beautiful as sculptures.
As it turned out, these carafes aren't just sitting pretty.

Growing up, I used the word "den" to describe my family's hangout room with a TV and a fireplace, and "living room" to describe our parlor-like room, which was used rarely, and when it was, for cocktail parties. It always seemed insensible to me to have a room you never use, and I vouched to make the most of my space when I had the option. This owner of this North London living room seems to really get it.

Everyone from health experts to Rachael Ray has touted the benefits of olive oil. As demand for expensive, higher-quality olive oil has grown, however, so has the problem of fraud. Last year, Connecticut officials discovered that some of that state's olive oil was a little too slick.
