A couple of weeks ago I read an article on the Atlantic's food blog that recommended making a grilled skewer appetizer with smoked cheese cubes wrapped in pancetta. The story reminded me of a delicious tapa I had years ago in a Spanish dive bar. Anxious to re-create the dish, I headed to the store and purchased thinly sliced pancetta and smoked mozzarella.

Last night when I was out and about San Francisco, I came across the cutest little dive bar, The Black Horse Pub. Virtually a hole in the wall, this eclectic "deli" has a bathtub behind the bar filled with various European brews. When I asked the delightful bartender for the lightest bottled beer, he pulled out a beer I had never heard of before: a French lager called Kasteel Cru.

Some people say they're old souls. I would reckon that this baby's soul is around 80 years old, and it's a regular Scotch drinker and Camel unfiltered cigarette smoker. Just a wild guess.

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson stayed in Los Angeles over the holiday weekend where it was pretty much business as usual for the girls. The two shopped, hung out with friends, drank lots of coffee and even spent Christmas night getting Chinese food at a local dive bar. Last week Lindsay blogged about Michael Lohan's illegitimate child and now he's taken his response to a new level.

Here's one way to make friends and influence enemies! According to the Douche Cards website, if you hand out this card to "the asshole in question," you'll avoid arguments or barroom brawls. And how is formally telling someone in writing that they're a douche going to do that exactly?
