Sometimes you need a great dinner for your family, but only have a little bit of time to put it together. On days like those, the idea of putting a full roast chicken on the table seems a bit daunting. However, with a little shortcut — replacing a full roast with just drumsticks — you can cut out the excess roasting time and have dinner on the table in 30 minutes.

The main course for Thanksgiving has traditionally been turkey. This meat can be a great source of lean protein, but some parts of the bird are healthier than others. To see how your turkey choices add up, check out the nutritional info of this meat and also a meat-free option.

As I mentioned before, my favorite way to buy chicken on a budget is to get it whole and cut it up into pieces, so I enjoy a taste of every part, from the wings to the drumsticks to the breasts and thighs.
Yesterday, I simmered the chicken in a cacciatore sauce of tomatoes, mushrooms, onions, and herbs, and tonight I'm using another one to make a straightforward roast that can be shredded into salads, soups, and pastas, or simply enjoyed on its own.
For a roasted chicken recipe that you can count on again and again, keep reading.

As if you needed an excuse to enjoy deep-fried thighs and drumsticks, yesterday was National Fried Chicken Day! What do you know about KFC — besides the fact that it's finger-lickin' good?

In the classic beer can chicken recipe, a whole chicken is balanced on a beer can before being cooked on the grill. The resulting chicken is wonderfully succulent. This recipe takes the main elements from the traditional recipe and cooks them in a weeknight-friendly manner.

I know you know that Thanksgiving is just around the corner, but do you know the nutritional differences between white and dark turkey meat? I'm a fan of all parts of the bird, but I know many people who avoid dark meat because they think it's much more unhealthy than white meat. So I made a handy chart so you can see how they compare.

A few months ago I was lucky enough to meet up with the very lovely and funny Rainn Wilson for a Q+A session about his new movie The Rocker (out today in the UK). In the movie he stars as Robert "Fish" Fishman, a talented drummer in a hair metal band that gets kicked out by his bandmates before they go on to rock glory. He then gets a second chance at success when his nephew's rock band are looking for a new drummer, and here's what he had to say when we spoke earlier this year:
- So, Rainn, how good are you at drumming really?

Researches at an independent research institute in India think they've solved the food crisis — hold on to your drumstick — they say the US's voracious appetites that is to blame. That if Americans slimmed down to the weight of middle-class Indians, “many hungry people in sub-Saharan Africa would find food on their plates.” The spokesman for the organization added pointedly that the amount of money spent in the United States on liposuction to get rid of fat from excess consumption could be better spent feeding famine victims.
The super-sized backlash on American consumption stems partially from remarks made by President Bush about India’s growing middle class and food prices.
