Last Friday night, my sister surprised me with a new trivia game by publishing house Chronicle Books. Created for serious food lovers, the game is addictive and informative. The Foodie Fight ($18.95) is like Trivial Pursuit but with questions related to food history, celebrity chefs, cultural cuisines, cooking techniques, and more. The game can be played in teams or alone. Each correct answer is rewarded with a small playing piece that fits into the color coded cards. I used to be really good at those arcade claw games. Like, way too many poorly made stuffed animals in my house sort of good. I'm pretty rusty these days, but I might have to start training again. You see, the Love Maine Lobsters Co. has created an actual lobster claw game where you catch live lobsters!

For two bucks — a pretty good deal if you think about the high cost of lobster — you can try and bring home dinner. They say the device is gentle and slow-moving, therefore it doesn't hurt the lobsters. But I don't know. You're already going to take them home and eat them; do you really need to ridicule them as well?

The tanks hold 25 to 30 pounds of lobster and is in bars all over the country. You can find similar models in Asia and California. But what I want to know is, what you would do if you came across one at a convenience store near you?

Host a Festive Earth Dinner

Interested in competitive eating, but can't quite stomach the thought of eating a bajillion hot dogs in one sitting? Then get ready, a new video game will allow you to pretend you're a Competitive World Eating Champion. On May 12, game publisher Mastiff will be releasing Major League Eating: The Game for the Wii.

I read about it the other day and have been dreaming of the craziness ever since. The game will use the Wii controller extensively in order to "simulate a variety of eating techniques" — I can't wait, it will be hilarious to see my friends making eating motions with the Wii controller — and will play like a fighting game.

While regular competitive eating seems rather gluttonous, not to mention a total waste of food, a virtual competition could be a bit fun. So who's going to challenge me when it comes out?
