If you're a design enthusiast and a New Orleans fanatic like me, you know Bryan Batt as a co-owner (with his partner Tom Cianfichi) of one of NOLA's finest décor boutiques, Hazelnut. I featured the boutique back in February of '08, and now Batt is set to ink his own home décor book. If you're just mad for Mad Men, you know him as Sterling-Cooper's in-the-closet, recently fired art director Salvatore Romano.

Actor Bryan Batt, known for his role as in-the-closet art director Salvatore Romano on Mad Men, has signed a deal with publisher Clarkson Potter to write a home décor book. The book, slated for release in Fall 2011, will explore his favorite interiors and "through his own witty commentary and design techniques, show readers how to create their own stylish and enchanting spaces." As you may remember, Batt and his partner Tom Cianfichi own Hazelnut, one of my favorite décor boutiques in New Orleans.

When planning your rehearsal dinner, take into consideration the theme of the wedding. If you're having a black tie big day, don't host an equally formal rehearsal dinner. Instead throw a laid back luau, festive hoedown, or in the case of my girlfriend, Ronda, a backyard grilled pizza party.

The owners of Hazelnut New Orleans, the Casa Shop you met yesterday, don't reserve their interior styling skills for their magasin on Magazine Street. Tom Cianfichi and Bryan Batt, who you may recognize from his role on AMC's Mad Men, are both actors with a knack for interiors and have dressed their Garden District carriage house to the nines in a daring mélange of modern classics (Barcelona chair, Louis Ghost chair), bold colors ('70s avocado walls, a beaded blood-orange chandelier), and thrifty finds (a Salvation Army sofa) that only bona fide creatives could see the potential in. The New York Times has an interesting feature about this duo's design evolution with photos of their home that will floor (or shag carpet) you.Source

Yesterday, I posted a link for hazelnut blondies, they looked great and were especially timely because today is World Nutella Day. It seems that I was not the only one who thought they looked good. Less than 24 hours later, TeamSugar member Twinkle, took the recipe and made it her own.

The floats have taken their final stroll down St. Charles Avenue, the boiled crawfish have all been peeled, and there are no more plastic beads to toss this Mardi Gras season, but you can still enjoy the Crescent City with a little introduction to one of the best design shops New Orleans has to offer. Find out all about this design shop when you read more

It's not hard to take your dinner table from blah to glam with these Kiwi Orchid Napkin Rings ($6) from Hazelnut, my favorite home shop in New Orleans. No need for fancy patterned table linens: these beauties will do the trick on a simple white table cloth, with white cloth napkins and some simple tea light votives. Just add a romantic homemade dinner and you'll be set (literally).

This week's cupcake comes from our pal at Never Bashful with Butter. This time she's created a beautiful hazelnut cupcake that's pink all the way through. While it has nothing to do with Breast Cancer Awareness, I thought the lovely pink color to be quite fitting.

What do you get when you combine chocolate, hazelnut, orange sprinkles, and Hershey's kisses? A delicious cookie that is perfect for Halloween!
These cookies are easy to make because they don't involve shelling any actual nuts.
