I'm not a total gearhead, but I know a good car when I see one. I am especially intrigued by hybrid and fuel efficient cars, well, because I'm kinda cheap and like to save money. Although I personally don't have a car, I could see myself splurging on a Lexus HS Hybrid for more than one reason.

At first glance, it looks uber geeky with the Trekkie-like LCD dashboard and 5.8-inch nav screen control area, but the newest ultra compact to hit the streets from Toyota could stand to up the geek factor a bit. Unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show Tuesday, the Toyota IQ's engineering innovations allow for more room inside — despite the tiny 9-foot length, which makes it perfect for those tight parking situations in urban cities. Plus, Toyota is pumping up its work in fuel hybrids, making the IQ an example of "plug-in" electricity technology that can cover about 62 miles per gallon of gas.

I'm in the market for a new car and every time I talk about it, someone tells me I have to get a hybrid.
Of course, it seems like a great idea: Gas is through the roof these days and hybrid vehicles get access to those coveted carpool lanes, not to mention free toll across the Golden Gate Bridge and all the eco-consciousness that goes along with driving one.

Personally, I love pluots, especially juicy, green Flavor Queens that possess none of the tartness of a typical plum. But Party begged to differ.

I get the need for handicapped parking spots. I might even get "family" parking, or close spots for expectant ladies — but this? This could be the "slippery slope" my dad always warns me about.

While sales of hybrid vehicles continue to rise there are some places where even hybrid vehicles can feel excessive and over sized. Luckily, Piaggio has announced a HyS, which is a “parallel” hybrid scooter in which a combustion engine and an electric motor are mechanically and electronically linked and simultaneously supply power to the wheel.
In this linked gas/electric engine, the gasoline engine behaves like a normal catalysed four-stroke engine with excellent performance and distance range on the one hand and low emissions and fuel consumption on the other.

Scooters are an awesome alternative to cars for city driving. They're better on gas, and they take up much less room, which equals more parking options!
Italian scooter manufacturer Piaggio not only produces some of the coolest scoots on the planet (Vespa anyone?), but now they're getting their green on again with the MP3 Hybrid scooter, which was recently unveiled at the International Motorcycle Expo in Italy.
