As much as I love celebrating Halloween, some parts of it — like haunted houses, trick-or-treating, and even certain kinds of candy — remind me I'm not a kid anymore. That's why I've decided to introduce some alternative, homemade confections that are refined enough for even an adult gourmand such as myself. Curious to know what my new candy favorites are?

Are you a sucker for high-end fashion brands? I am and I'm not afraid to admit that yes, I covet the classic quilted Chanel handbag with interlocking C logo. However, I'm not sure how I feel about these logo lollipops.

How fabulously creative are these cakesicles?! Balls of red velvet cake — made with a box mix — are dipped into a pretty pink coating. They look like the perfect Valentine's Day gift for my girlfriends!

Today is National Lollipop Day, but instead of just giving you a rundown of lollipops and sending you on your way, I thought it would be fun to see just how far the lollipop has gone. What is usually just thought of as a bit of hard candy on the end of a stick, is in fact, a much larger culinary trend. These days it seems that anything round and placed on the end of a stick can be considered a lollipop.

If you were one of those weird kids who liked chewing on your dolls, then you're in luck. These watermelon flavored Sigmund Freud Head Pops will bring you right back to first grade - although I'm not quite sure what Freud would actually say about the whole thing. After all, I'm sure there's some sort of metaphor waiting there...

So far, in our journey through food-inspired jewelry, we've gone from apple bobby pins to junk food charms, and today we'll have a look at the letters K through O. I've found kiwi brooches, scented lollipop earrings, mushroom rings, nigiri earrings (mix and match even!) and for him: olive cufflinks. Know of any great food-inspired jewelry starting with K, L, M, N, or O?

If you're looking for an earth-friendly treat that may cause a bit of fright go with ghost lollipops. Toddlers love projects so enlist your lil ones help in wrapping each individually wrapped organic sucker in a sheet of recyclable tissue. Tie it off just under the candy with a piece of string, ribbon, twine or raffia found around the house.

Reading is sweet! Following this holiday season, I would love to put a moratorium on new toys in my home, but know it would only lead to tons of tears. While my lil ones did receive a few beloved books under the tree, I'm thinking of getting them subscriptions to one of the Lollipop Book Club programs for their birthdays.

For the raver who celebrates Easter! Sure, Katie Sugar looked longingly at this candy when I walked by, but this toy (for ages five and up) isn't designed for paci-aged kids.
Perhaps this light-up lollipop/pacifier has the best intentions, but I can't shake my mental image of some clubber kid whiling away his Sunday ecstasy roll by sucking on the Easter bunny's head.

Ha! The genius who brought you The Oral Stage gets props from the geniuses at Archie McPhee who brought you Uncle Oinker's Bacon Flavored Mints. But seriously, sometimes, a lollipop is just a lollipop...
