One of geeksugar's favorite treats is a fresh baked madeleine - for those of you that don't know, a madeleine is a French, cakelike cookie shaped like a shell. In fact, she likes them so much, her mom actually ended up buying her the special pan in order to make her own. Only there was one problem: geeksugar swears she can't cook.

As secretary of state, Madeleine Albright could use carrots and sticks to further the US foreign policy agenda. "When a woman smiles, then her dress should smile too," said Madeleine Vionnet. I admit, I didn't know much about Vionnet until I read Madeleine Vionnet, by Pamela Golbin and Patrick Gries. If it weren't for Madeleine, dubbed the queen of the bias cut, gowns and skirts wouldn't be half as fluid and sexy as they are today.

Another night another Lions for Lambs premiere for Tom and Katie, this time things got a little more political when they took the movie down to DC. Katie's hair and makeup looked great, but the dress is a little blah. That being said, I can't help but like her when she gives the old Joey Potter smile.

My heart leapt into my throat when I read a report that Portuguese prosecutors will examine the police report before deciding whether to drop the investigation or take further inquiries on the Madeleine McCann case. Last May, the 3-year-old disappeared from the resort room where she slept with her two year-old twin siblings while their parents dined out.
It's hard to imagine that the case could be closed (though they could reopen it at any point) with a young child's life at stake.

Big change is afoot in the fashion industry: after the 90s, which were dominated by male designers, women designers seem to be taking the upper hand.
Even though female designers have a long way to go in male-run fashion capitals like New York and Paris, there does seem to be a trend emerging, particularly in Milan. In Italy alone, a large number of family-run companies were founded or are helmed by women: Alberta Ferretti, Prada, Versace, Fendi, Trussardi, Missoni, Etro, and Emilio Pucci.
