Last Friday the Bush administration asked a federal appeals court to stop allowing meatpackers to test all animals for mad cow disease. That's right, the government wants companies to test fewer animals.
Currently, under Agriculture Department guidelines, less than 1 percent of slaughtered cows are tested for the disease.

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner were together for last night's special NYC screening of New Moon along with their many costars. It looks like they split up for the afterparty, though, with Robert and Kristen spotted afterward looking far more casual on their way out of a lounge in the city's Meatpacking District. The official afterparty was held in a different neighborhood at The Box, where Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr were spotted making a hasty retreat in the rain.

NYC Meatpacking District's Pastis held court for Cameron Diaz and friends for lunch yesterday afternoon. (Perhaps, in rumor-y dreams, she was gabbing about her recent friend time with JT.) The great thing about Milk Studios and this Fashion Week is exiting a show and being in the Meatpacking District. Boutiques and good eats are right there. After the Preen show, I did a little window shopping and Alexander McQueen's window got the wow award.

Blake Lively and Chace Crawford filmed a scene in the Meatpacking District of New York City earlier this week, looking all dressed up in front of the cameras. Meanwhile their Gossip Girl costar — and Blake's off screen boyfriend — Penn Badgley got the chance to test out the kissing technique of guest star Hilary Duff! While we all know and love Dan Humphrey, Hilary's character is new in the third season — she plays a movie star who's looking for a regular college experience and seems to be getting to know Dan rather well!

We talk a lot about illegal immigration around here, but this story really puts a human face on the situation and shows the extent of the problem. It doesn't look good for anyone involved. Arizona authorities recently found 53 illegal immigrants being held prisoners in a Phoenix home by suspected smugglers holding them hostage for more money.
