Baby puffs are a staple in many mama's snack arsenal. However, until now, the only options were from the major baby food manufacturers, neither of which made organic versions of the treats.
Happy Baby, the Brooklyn-based fresh-frozen organic food company, has introduced the first organic puffs, Happy Baby Puffs ($4).

I've switched over from the grocery store usuals like Tide and All to eco-friendly laundry detergents from brands like Method, Clorox Green Works, and Seventh Generation, and I've shown you how to make your own eco-friendly detergent. But eco detergents are nothing new. The Laundry, a Milwaukee-based laundering service, has been making its Finest Laundry Powder ($24.95), an organic, biodegradable, additive-free, dye-free, and bleach-free detergent, for over 50 years.

We read food labels, the packaging of the products and try to support businesses that practice fair trade policies in an effort to help communities around the world. But, being eco-conscious and healthy often pulls on our purse strings. With the current state of the economy, many families have given up organic foods to cut costs at the checkout counter.

There are enough cute organic t-shirts out there to fill a closet, but when an eco-conscience mama is looking for something a bit more stylish, the options are limited. That's what makes Sarah Waldo Organics, so refreshing and fabulous. Using organic natural fibers, such as cotton, silk and wool, and using plant based dyes, Waldo has designed a line that leaves me craving more though it costs a pretty penny.

Earth Day has passed, but hopefully eco-awareness sticks with our children in the years to come. Beleaf's line of adorable educational shirts remind tots of the little things they can do to help the environment on a daily basis. Made from high quality organic and recyclable fabrics, the tops feature boastful tips like "I didn't take a bath to save water today" and "I recycled my juice box today" that may inspire others to do the same (though the bath may be more of a time issue than an eco-friendly one in some homes).

Yesterday I read an interesting article on Gourmet's website that discusses an increase in spiders found in packages of grapes. As more and more farmers stop using pesticides and start growing organic, insects like spiders act as a natural pest control. The problem comes when the consumer discovers a bug in their home kitchen.

Looks like the Obamas aren't the only ones raising media attention over sustainable food and farming: British model-actress Elizabeth Hurley is teaming up with none other than Prince Charles to launch a new line of organic foods.
The "modern, healthy, organic food" line will launch in October, Hurley's spokesperson said today. The range will be sold by Prince Charles's sustainable food company, Duchy Originals, with offerings such as pork, poultry, lamb, and rare breed beef, as well as organic grains harvested at Hurley's 400-acre organic farm in western England.

Whether you're male or female, hair loss is quite common. My sister has had recurring problems with alopecia areata for years, and through finding the right combination of products to treat it, she's pretty much alopecia-free. But in case it sneaks back into her life, I'll have to tell her about Organic Root Stimulator Fertilizing Serum Herbal Scalp Formula ($13), a relatively inexpensive treatment recommended by Bruce from Virginia.
