The sixth season of Top Chef started with a bang last night. The competition is full of heavily tattooed contestants who are eager to display their culinary prowess. The return of Tom, Gail, and Padma was refreshing and who knew Wolfgang Puck was so funny?!

After a week hiatus, Top Chef Masters was back last night with Douglas Rodriguez, John Besh, Anita Lo, and Mark Peel competing for their respective charities. Eggs, magic, Tom Colicchio, and Doogie Howser played supporting roles. Did you watch?

This morning Bravo announced its plans for Top Chef Junior. Similar to Top Chef, the eight-episode series will feature teens battling it out in the kitchen and competing in culinary challenges. This isn't exactly breaking news, but Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt started the rumor mill up again when they mentioned that they're shopping around their own spinoff from The Hills. The show would focus more on their everyday lives and acknowledge their "fame", which apparently has risen to such levels that they've gone and written a book about it.
I'm kind of over The Hills in general, and I think there are plenty of former (or current) reality stars out there who are more deserving of his/her own show.

Back in the day when I watched waaay too much television, I couldn't even justify it by saying I was watching the good stuff. If anything, I watched the worst television had to offer. Take Cheaters, the reality television show hosted by smarmy Joey Greco.

Augmented reality seems to be the next big thing on the tech horizon — already new apps and even umbrellas are using the technology — and it doesn't seem to be in short supply either. Just after we learned that Esquire will be using augmented reality in their upcoming issue, I realized that James Cameron has also harnessed the feature to promote his next big blockbuster. Every time you buy an Avatar product — whether it be an action figure or a branded can of Coke — you can use your webcam to have some fun with 3D right in your home.

From Magical Elves, the producers of Bravo's Top Chef, Top Chef Masters, and the soon-to-air Top Chef: Just Desserts, comes yet another reality TV show, tentatively titled United Plates of America.
Unlike its sister productions, United Plates will air on NBC. The premise: aspiring restaurateurs compete in a number of challenges involving the restaurant's concept, cuisine, management, and marketability.

Just like there's a dating site for everyone, there's also a dating show for everyone! Reality TV now tests whether age, size, or looks matter. It seems like network producers are keen on conducting sociological experiments — either that or they want the ratings.
