Break out the tea cups even if you're not observing tea time. Take advantage of Spring blooms, which are often already on a short stem, by arranging them in pretty, mismatched china. Displayed on a mantel or across a coffee table, these modest garden blooms can make a big impact.

Although some people may think this Roaches on My Cup and Saucer servingware ($47) is whimsical, I find it grossly realistic. I don't want a live roach crawling in my cappuccino, so why would I want to see a painting of one at the bottom of my mug?! Still, this teacup set could be fun for practical jokes.

I spotted this collection of tea cups in a store window recently (excuse the gate), and was inspired to start gathering mismatched antique teacups to display in my own home. Even a chipped and color-faded antique demitasse set looks magnificent when displayed amongst friends of similar form. The good thing is that these teacups are not usually too expensive, and you can find them at second-hand shops, antique shops, and of course eBay.

As evidenced in my holiday TV sneak peek, this week's episode of Grey's Anatomy puts the doctors on a fast track that starts on Thanksgiving eve and runs through New Year's Eve. As we all know by now, the Seattle Grace surgeons aren't always big on merriment, but the holidays are always the perfect time to bring out the truth in feelings and relationships.
