Last night on the second episode of the new season of Kitchen Nightmares, Gordon Ramsay was on a mission to turn Long Island's Handlebar around. With a chef who doesn't like to cook, an unmotivated owner, and an emotional train wreck of a wife, the restaurant was a complete disaster. I've always liked the concept of Kitchen Nightmares more than Ramsay's other television show, Hell's Kitchen.

In his blog on the New York Times, food journalist Mark Bittman makes the claim that food television — particularly cooking shows that teach a viewer how to make something — are too unrealistic. Unlike the real world, the chefs never make mistakes and each dish always comes out perfectly. He says: When you watch most celebrity chefs go to work on TV it is a) baffling and intimidating, and b) a charade.

Networks like The CW and NBC are trying to tap into highly trafficked social networking sites like MySpace by offering video streams of popular TV shows. The beloved '80s toy turned movie turned TV show, My Little Pony, is getting resurrected with a series set to air on the new Discovery-Hasbro kids channel.
Makes sense since My Little Pony is a Hasbro creation, but I have mixed feelings over this news. I was nutty for the toys growing up — I even had a tiny plastic pony tent that I used to pitch in my living room.

Robert Pattinson showed us lots of his many facial expressions during his visit to the NBC Studios in New York City yesterday for his appearance on The Today Show. He chatted about his teeth, Edward's love story, and joked that every rumour about him is true: check out a video of his interview after the jump, as well as his appearance on Regis and Kelly. Robert and his New Moon costars have been taking over the TV schedules in the US this week in the lead up to the film's release today, with their visit to Jimmy Kimmel showing tonight, but now the movie's finally out there the stars will get to enjoy a well-deserved rest.

I definitely know I notice pets in films, but I think I've got good recall for pets on sitcoms or reality shows, too – many times that's what keeps me tuning in week after week. Have you ever watched a TV show more for the animals than the two-legged stars? I definitely tuned into Frasier for Eddie more than the actual plotline, and I remember when the show was on (and "Moose" was still alive), he got more fan mail than anyone else on the show.

Katie Price has followed in Camilla Dallerup's footsteps and quit the jungle on I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! We saw her refusal to take part in the next challenge live on last night's show, and overnight she left the camp.
On Sunday the News of the World reported that Alex Reid is heading into the jungle to propose to Katie, possibly on television, so rumours were circulating that he would do it on the show.
