Dolores Park is located in between San Francisco's Mission and Castro districts and therefore attracts an eclectic crowd of hipsters. The look of our picnic will be very informal. First a large hippie blanket will be spread on the grass.

For the no-fuss father, keep the decor of your Father's Day celebration minimal and outdoorsy. Since the majority of the menu is grilled, a Weber barbecue is a must. Whenever we have big parties, my dad always fills a bucket or cooler with ice and beverages.

Turn your patio or backyard into an inviting and eclectic dining space for a meal inspired by the freshness of the farmers market. Set up a wooden table and put a placemat in front of each seat. Place a blue plate, napkin, low glass tumbler, and silverware on the placemats.

Use the guest of honor's high school colors to decorate the location of your graduation party. Cover the tables with nice tablecloths and fill scalloped white serving trays with the food. Stack paper napkins near the buffet.

Recently, my honey and I had dinner at a restaurant that specialized in coastal American cuisine. While the succulent seafood was the real takeaway, I also made a note to replicate the beach-inspired candles for my next dinner party.
At the center of our two-top table was a nostalgic, uncomplicated piece: the flame of a single votive, flanked by beach sand, inside a short bar glass.

Pretty pastels make for a welcoming and elegant look at a bridal shower brunch. Since people will bring gifts, designate an area away from the buffet for them to place the presents. Cover the tables with a floral printed cloth.

Use vibrant colors to decorate the location of your Cinco de Mayo fiesta. Instead of traditional tablecloths, cover the table with festive Mexican blankets. Yellow servingware is perfect for plating the enchiladas.

To celebrate the publication of a new book, Change the World For Ten Bucks, my sister (who is on the cover!) has organized a day of volunteering and I'm setting up a picnic for the volunteers. The look is inspired by the colors on the book's cover.
The granola and cookies will be packed in a sturdy picnic basket.
