In addition to shooting the breeze with Top Chef's latest winner, Hosea Rosenberg, PartySugar and I also had the opportunity to catch up with Hosea's close pal, previous TC champ Stephanie Izard.
When we spoke to Stephanie — who's even more spunky and sassy in person! — she unveiled additional details about her upcoming Chicago restaurant, The Drunken Goat, her unique bond with other cheftestants, and plans to do more TV.

Well, the next round of chefs competed this week on Top Chef Masters. It was interesting to see another set of professionals, but I'm still not sure how I feel about the host, Kelly Choi. What do you think of her?

While we spotted a bunch of star chefs in Aspen, we had a particularly titillating conversation with Hosea Rosenberg, the winner of last season's Top Chef. The latest TC champ, who was the picture of West Coast cool, talked to PartySugar and me about his immediate plans, what he intends to do with $100,000, and the one kind of food he's really sick of.

At the beginning of every Top Chef episode, Padma Lakshmi reminds viewers that the winner will make a special appearance at the Food & Wine Classic in Aspen, so it's no surprise that much of the events at the festival are devoted to all things Top Chef. Take Gail Simmons and Tom Colicchio's demonstration, entitled "In the Kitchen with Top Chef," for example. The two culinary minds created dishes (her: a strawberry lychee cocktail and shrimp pea pasta; him a lobster pea ravioli), provided tips on how to cook more like a top chef, and best of all, revealed details from the upcoming season that recently finished filming in Las Vegas.

Although there's been speculation about the winner of Top Chef Masters, the second episode was full of its own excitement. Competitors from Top Chef season 2 were judges for a vending machine quickfire and the contestants, who included Elizabeth Falkner and Wylie Dufresne, had to create a tropical island themed meal fit for the creators of Lost. Did you watch?

Top Chef Masters is only in week two, but there is already talk of the grand prize winner. Last week in her Yummy Letter newsletter, Grace Ann Walden, a longtime food journalist based in San Francisco, claims to announce the winner.

Well, Top Chef fans, what did you think of the spinoff, Top Chef Masters? I have mixed feelings about the show — I loved seeing the world-renowned chefs compete, but I hated seeing three of them fall so far, so quickly. I also didn't like how the stakes weren't as high: the four competitors are already established and well-respected professionals in the food industry.
