If you ask any home cook what her favorite kitchen utensil is, I guarantee that at least half of them (if not more) will say her wooden spoon. A great kitchen spoon is a must have. Without one there is no tasting of broth, no mixing of cookies, none of that.

Not only am I obsessed with honey-enhanced beauty products, but ever since I went to Greece, I can't get enough of unsweetened yogurt (mixed with honey, of course). So when I came across this DIY face mask recipe and realized that I already had all of the ingredients stocked in my kitchen, I decided to give it a go. The treatment takes about twenty minutes to complete, and if you're looking for a budget friendly pick-me-up, this at home alternative is effective, and it's cheap as chips.

Skunks get a pretty bad rap (for a pretty stinky reason), but that doesn't mean they're not cute as a button. Anyone remember Flower, from the movie Bambi? Couldn't get any cuter — or so I thought.

Last week, while spending time on the beach and building sandcastles with my kids, I realized that though the molding kits are tailor-made for the task, there's a more economical and ecological way to create sand art — using gadgets collected from the kitchen. What do a rake, a toy truck, a wooden spoon, and a bunch of ball bearings have in common? They have a supporting role in what's possibly the world's most complicated cocktail maker. This contraption was created by New Zealander Joseph Herscher, who is known for his other Rube Goldberg-style machine, the chocolate egg creamer.

The New York Times "Biodegradable Home Product Lines, Ready to Rot" is a nod to the advent of biodegradability in the home décor world these days. I wouldn't say the biodegradable plastic spoon I ate my turkey chili off of at lunch today is new and noteworthy. But, stylish product lines like Looolo Textiles, which are designed to compost in one year should you deign they're no longer en vogue, certainly qualify as new kids on the block.
